NUMS Entry Test Overview & AMC Admissions
The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) Entry Test is a mandatory requirement for admission to MBBS and BDS programs in Army Medical College (Rawalpindi), CMH Lahore, CMH Multan, CMH Karachi, and other military-run medical institutions. It is held once annually.
Test Structure and Subject Weights
The test consists of two parts: - Part A (Aptitude Test, 95% weight): 150 MCQs to be solved in 150 minutes. Biology (35%), Chemistry (25%), Physics (20%), and English (10%). - Part B (Psychological Test, 5% weight): 150 MCQs to be completed in 30 minutes, evaluating personality suitability.
Psychological Test Section
The psychological test in NUMS is mandatory. While it carries lower marks, candidates must qualify it. Questions evaluate decision-making, moral character, empathy, and mental toughness under pressure.
NUMS Preparation Strategy
Biology carries the highest weight, so focus on HSSC/Intermediate textbook concepts. Solve past NUMS and NTS papers under timed conditions. There is no negative marking, so ensure all 150 aptitude questions are attempted.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the NUMS exam must meet the designated educational qualifications (typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent) and satisfy the age limit requirements specified by the conducting body. Age relaxation may apply for government servants and special categories.
NUMS Salary, Grade & Pay Scale
Candidates appointed through the NUMS screening are placed in lucrative salary grades (typically BPS-16 or BPS-17 for officers) or equivalent corporate brackets. Benefits include a basic pay scale, utility allowances, medical coverage, and transport benefits.
Interview & Viva Voce Guidance
The final selection phase for the NUMS post involves an interview or viva voce panel evaluation. Candidates are assessed on communication, personality suitability, and general knowledge. Practicing mock interviews is highly recommended.
