About FPSC
FPSC is the constitutional body that recruits, promotes and transfers federal civil servants in Pakistan. It conducts competitive examinations and screening tests for posts in BPS-07 to BPS-22 across all federal ministries, departments and agencies.
FPSC Screening Test Format
Most FPSC posts involve a one-paper or two-paper screening test. Common sections include English, general knowledge, Pakistan Studies, Islamiat, current affairs, subject knowledge, and quantitative/analytical reasoning depending on the post. Higher posts may include a written subjective paper and interview.
Popular FPSC Posts
FPSC recruits for hundreds of post types. The most commonly applied-for posts include Sub-Inspector (Customs/Police/FIA), Assistant (BPS-15/16), Lecturer (BPS-17), ASI (BPS-09), Data Entry Operator, Inspector, Auditor, Junior Clerk, and various technical posts requiring degree qualifications.
Preparation Strategy
Study the specific post syllabus from the FPSC website. General sections require strong command of English, current affairs, Pakistan affairs and Islamiat. Subject-specific sections require deep knowledge of your discipline. Practice MCQs daily, attempt timed mock tests weekly and review past paper patterns.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the FPSC exam must meet the designated educational qualifications (typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent) and satisfy the age limit requirements specified by the conducting body. Age relaxation may apply for government servants and special categories.
Interview & Viva Voce Guidance
The final selection phase for the FPSC post involves an interview or viva voce panel evaluation. Candidates are assessed on communication, personality suitability, and general knowledge. Practicing mock interviews is highly recommended.
