FIA Recruitment Overview

FIA primarily recruits through FPSC for officer-grade positions (Inspector BPS-16, Sub-Inspector BPS-14) and through direct FIA hiring or third-party testing services for lower-grade positions (ASI BPS-09, Constable BPS-07, and Support Staff). Each post has specific eligibility, academic requirements, and test stages.

Eligibility Criteria & Physical Standards

For Inspector (BPS-16) and Sub-Inspector (BPS-14), candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree. For ASI, an Intermediate certificate is required, and for Constable, Matriculation is the minimum requirement. Field positions have strict physical standards: height (5' 6" for men, 5' 4" for women) and chest measurement (32"–33.5" for men only). Candidates must also clear a physical efficiency test (running 1 mile in 7 minutes for men, 10 minutes for women).

FIA Written Test Syllabus & Pattern

The FIA written test (MCQ format) typically includes Part I: English (20 marks) testing grammar and vocabulary, and Part II: General Knowledge (80 marks) covering Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs, Everyday Science, Basic Arithmetic, and the FIA Act 1974 (especially for Inspector and SI posts). For Constable and ASI, basic computer literacy and Urdu are also tested.

FIA Act 1974 & Specialized Section

For Sub-Inspector and Inspector positions, questions from the FIA Act 1974 carry significant weight (typically 10-15% of the professional test). Candidates must study the constitution, powers, and jurisdiction of the agency, including sections on arrest, search, and provincial police overlap.

Written Test Strategy

Focus heavily on English vocabulary, basic mathematics, and Pakistan Affairs. Allocate at least 15-20 days to memorize key sections of the FIA Act 1974. Since there is no negative marking in FPSC-conducted FIA exams, speed and coverage of all questions are crucial.

FIA Salary, Grade & Benefits

Recruits are placed in basic pay scales matching their posts: Inspector (BPS-16), Sub-Inspector (BPS-14), ASI (BPS-09), and Constable (BPS-07). FIA officers receive a basic pay scale, a special FIA allowance (typically 60-100% of basic pay), free medical facilities, utility subsidies, and official accommodation options.

Interview & Viva Voce Guidance

Candidates qualifying the written and physical tests are called for a psychological assessment and a formal interview. The panel evaluates communication skills, analytical thinking, knowledge of current affairs, and moral integrity. Mock interviews with retired law enforcement officers are recommended.
