ECAT Overview
ECAT is required for admission to engineering universities in Pakistan. UET Lahore, UET Taxila, NED Karachi, and other public-sector universities use ECAT or their own variants. NUST uses the NET (NUST Entry Test), GIKI uses its own test, and FAST uses NU-FAST. Most have similar Mathematics and Physics content.
ECAT Syllabus & Paper Pattern
ECAT covers Mathematics (most heavily weighted), Physics, Chemistry, and English (Composition/MCQs). Questions are based on FSc Part I and II curriculum. Numerical questions in Maths and Physics require speed and accuracy.
Preparation Strategy
Mathematics should get 50% of your preparation time. Practice every formula and theorem. Physics requires concept clarity and numerical practice. Chemistry is mostly memory-based. Attempt past ECAT papers from UET and NUST under timed conditions.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for the ECAT exam must meet the designated educational qualifications (typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent) and satisfy the age limit requirements specified by the conducting body. Age relaxation may apply for government servants and special categories.
